Australian Endurance Championship leaders Tim Miles and Jaxon Evans are hoping for glory when they pilot the #74 Valvoline Jamec Pem Racing Audi at Hampton Downs this weekend.
The duo claimed victory in the first two rounds of the season, and with the campaign now crossing the Tasman, the two New Zealander’s are looking for more success on home soil.
“It will be my first time racing at Hampton Downs but anytime you’re racing an Audi is a good time so I’m looking forward to it,” enthused Evans.
“We’re both confident behind the wheel of the Audi, and the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia boys will have it tuned up that’s for sure, so we’ll see what we can do – I can’t wait!”
The duo raced to victory at the opening round of the season at Phillip Island, before a second commanding performance at Sydney Motorsport Park in Round 2 confirmed their championship credentials.
Holding near maximum points at the halfway mark of the championship, Miles and Evans are well placed heading into the final leg of the campaign.
“We never planned to go to New Zealand initially, but winning two from two in Australia has encouraged us to go over,” Evans explained.
“Hopefully we can have another couple of good results and come out on top!”
Two weeks after the Hampton Downs 500, the New Zealand 1001 double-header concludes at the famous Highlands circuit for the revamped Highlands 501.
Championship victory there would hand Valvoline Jamec Pem Racing it’s second national motor racing championship title of the season, the highest level of competition in Australian motor racing.
Geoff Emery won the Australian GT Championship at Sandown in September, while Steve McLaughlan is in command of the Australian GT Trophy Series with one round remaining.
Jamec Pem previously won the Australian GT Championship in 2015, when Christopher Mies claimed the title at the season-ending Highlands event, but is gunning for its first Australian Endurance Championship in 2017.
The Valvoline Jamec Pem Racing combination of Miles and Evans will be on track at Hampton Downs from Friday (October 27) for opening practice before qualifying, which feeds into a Top 10 Shootout, on Saturday.
The gruelling Hampton Downs 500 follows on Sunday, with all the action broadcast live in Australia on Fox Sports, Channel 507, from 12:30 AEDT, and across New Zealand live on TV3 from 10:30 local time.
A live stream will also be available, allowing fans across the globe the opportunity to watch every moment of the race.
