Race winner returns to Australian GT

Australian GT Championship race winner Fraser Ross has confirmed he will return to the category for the 2018 campaign.

Racing the YNA Autosport McLaren 650S GT3, which will again be prepared by McElrea Racing, Ross will compete in all six rounds of the Championship, starting with the opening round at the Australian Grand Prix next weekend.

It will mark Ross’ second season in Australian GT competition, which last year saw him claim a maiden race win at Sandown Park Raceway.

“Towards the end of last year we were really on top of things, and I think that showed in the results we were getting, so I’m excited to be working with YNA Autosport and McElrea Racing again,” said Ross.

“We’ve got a new McLaren 650S GT3 with the same team and crew from last year, so we all know how to work with each other and extract every little bit of performance.

“It’s fantastic to have Boost Mobile onboard for this season, and I’m excited to become an ambassador for the company,” said Ross.

“With their support, and the help of Total, Opti-Coat, Logitech, and Leica Cameras it should be another good year in the McLaren.

“It’s going to be a big year for us, and I can’t wait to get started at the Grand Prix!”

In 2016 YNA Autosport won the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship with Nathan Morcom and Grant Denyer.

Ross forms part of a capacity grid at Albert Park, which will also mark the first time GT4 machinery has competed in an Australian championship competition.

The 2018 CAMS Australian GT Championship begins next weekend at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, with four thrilling sprint races set to usher in the new season.
