The Aussie Driver Search team will compete in Round 3 of the Australian GT Championship, armed with its recently-purchased Audi R8 LMS car.
Fresh from his Super2 Series debut at Barbagallo Raceway last weekend, Jaie Robson will look to continue his strong form in the GT Championship.
After the opening two rounds, Robson currently sits sixth in the title chase and is regarded as one of the surprises packets of the 2018 season.
Robson competed in the first two rounds driving a Mercedes Benz AMG GT, but with the Aussie Driver Search squad purchasing the competitive Audi, the 2016 ADS champion has switched to the new machine where he hopes to continue his promising run.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of swapping cars in the Australian GT Championship,” said Robson.
“The first time I will drive the Audi will be on Friday but I hope to replicate the immediate success I had at the Grand Prix.”
The Audi was raced in the last Australian GT round at Tailem Bend where former Supercars champion Garth Tander, alongside Geoff Emery raced to 12th place outright.
ADS founder Kyle Austin says that he is looking forward to seeing how Robson performs in his new weapon.
“The Mercedes has been great for Jaie and ADS however with us purchasing our own Audi R8 LMS, it made sense for Jaie to race the Audi,” said Austin.
“We plan to utilise the Audi as much as possible in Aus GT and our events.”
The Sandown event is the third on the Australian GT Championship calendar and the second of the ‘sprint’ rounds.
Practice commences on Friday, qualifying and Race 1 will be held on Saturday followed by two more races on Sunday.
