59Racing’s Fraser Ross has claimed pole position for the opening CAMS Australian GT Championship race on the streets of the Gold Coast after two epic 15-minute qualifying sessions on the demanding beachside circuit, the Victorian pushing the standing qualifying lap record to within hundredths of a second, as he threw down the gauntlet to the title contenders.
Australian GT returns to the streets of Surfers Paradise
After a mid-season battle of endurance that saw reigning Australian GT champion Geoff Emery and team-mate Garth Tander crowned champions in the 2019 CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, the series returns to sprint format this weekend with the Gold Coast hosting the penultimate round of the season alongside Supercars, with two 60-minute races on the beachside circuit, the first for AGT since 2012.
Bathurst to dominate 2020 Australian GT calendar
Australian GT have revealed a comprehensive race calendar for the 2020 season, a calendar that includes events for the CAMS Australian GT Championship, the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, a dedicated Championship for GT4 cars that also includes stand-alone events, and the pending Pirelli AGT SuperSprint at Mount Panorama at season’s end, a circuit that will play a significant role in the new season calendar with Bathurst appearing four times next year.
World class Australian Endurance Championship set for 2020
Australian GT have unveiled the first of their dates for the 2020 season, with three events scheduled for the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, kicking off with the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour in late January.
