Australian GT ready to race and preparing for 2020 season return

With Covid-19 restrictions beginning to ease around the country, the potential that sporting events will be back on the calendar in the not too distant future has allowed Australian GT to start moving forward, with recent weeks seeing a survey of teams and drivers, whilst further discussions have been had with stakeholders, all focussed on a return to racing.

AGT confirm Invitational details for 2020 season

With increased interest in Australian GT from teams contesting ‘endurance’ style sports cars, the category administrators have moved to confirm details of the ‘Invitational’ division that will be open to cars that fit outside the existing Australian GT Trophy Series regulations specific to GT3 and one-make production sports cars (Trofeo Challenge).

A last minute decision to employ the services of a former Australian GT race winner and mid race misfortune for points leader Matt Stoupas, has handed KFC Audi R8 campaigner Gary Higgon the round win of the second event on the 2020 Australian GT Trophy Series calendar at Sydney Motorsport Park after two spirited 60-minute races across the weekend.
